ROSACEA (COUPEROSE) Effective Natural Care

Rosacea is a dermatosis: a pathological alteration of skin that affects central area of face. Below we analyze treatments for rosacea with natural products, its causes and traditional therapies.

It has a prevalence ranging from 2 to 10% of people. More frequent among women, with onset between 30 and 50 years, manifests itself with redness, dilation of face superficial blood vessels and inflammatory acneiform lesions. It's also called couperose and has increased cardiovascular risk profile: natural remedies for rosacea avoid this risk and don’t cause damage to the body. Erythema (redness of the skin), is the first evolutionary stage and affects the central part of the face (cheeks, nose and forehead), but can also occur on the neck and chest.

A rather characteristic element is rhinophyma, a pathological alteration of nose skin, as a result of which it assumes a globular, irregular shape and a pinkish color as in erythema. Eye and eyelid involvement is present in 60% of patients. The causes include exposure to ultraviolet rays, free radicals like superoxide and hydroxyl radical, an increased reactivity of blood vessels. In addition, some neuropeptides locally released by mast cells in an unregulated way, infectious factors (in particular, a possible correlation with Helicobacter pylori infection has been studied). Traditional treatment uses local therapy with antibiotics, photodynamic and laser therapy.

But natural cures for rosacea are possible thanks to properties of natural products like Calendula Officinalis and Rhodiola rosea which have anti-inflammatory, soothing, anti-free radical action, normalizing the microcirculation. There are also organic substances, such as flavoproteins, NAD and NADP, which collaborate in effective and not harmful way to restore mast cell metabolism and, therefore, to normalization of rosacea disorders.
